FAQ’S

What is included in a Trevor Sorbie Cut & Finish?

A Trevor Sorbie cut & finish includes a pre-appointment consultation with your stylist, salon shampooing, luxury head massage, a bespoke haircut, and a professional blowdry. We can also add personalised finishes to your hair, such as a smoothing treatments or damage-repair treatments using Fusio-dose or Olaplex technology.

Should I wash my hair before a cut ?

It isn’t necessary to wash your hair before your appointment as all our haircut appointments include a professional shampooing, where we’ll wash and treat your hair with the best professional haircare products suited to your hair type.

How long does a haircut take?

Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, a cut and blowdry appointment takes 1 hour to complete, although this can increase if you have longer or thicker hair or would like a more luxurious blowdry. Please ensure you discuss your requirements with your stylist at the consultation before your appointment or with our expert host team.

What haircut should I get?

When you visit any of our Trevor Sorbie salons for a cut and finish, you’ll first enjoy a free consultation with one of our stylists. You’ll be able to discuss any hair concerns, and work together to decide on the hair look that works best for you. Bring along any reference images you’ve seen that you love – whether cut, colour or style, as this will help the team create the best look for you. Our team are trained to the highest standard to create a bespoke look just for you!

Does a cut and finish include styling?

At Trevor Sorbie, we use a variety of styling tools, techniques and products to create your desired finish, whilst also looking after the quality of the hair to ensure it’s kept healthy. We’ll also give you advice on how to maintain your look at home with products and styling techniques. If you do require something more complex that will take a longer time than the 1 hour appointment your hairdresser will advise on this as it may take a longer time to complete.

Why is a haircut important?

A haircut can be important because it can help to define your personal style and express your individuality. We believe it serves as a form of self-expression that can give you confidence and a sense of identity. A good haircut can also enhance your existing features, create structure in the face, and make you look and feel your absolutely best.

How often do I need to get my hair cut?

It really depends on your hair type and the style you prefer. If you have short hair, it is generally recommended that you get a trim or cut every 4-6 weeks. If you have medium-length or long hair, then it is recommended that you get a haircut about 6-8 weeks apart. However, some people may find that they need to get their hair cut more or less often, depending on how quickly their hair grows and the style they prefer. Your chosen hairdresser will advise on how often you will need to come in to maintain the look you desire.

Can a haircut stop hair fall?

Unfortunately, cutting your hair cannot stop hair fall. While a good haircut may make your hair look healthier and give it more volume, it won’t actually stop the hair from falling out. However, our expert team can discuss your concerns and suggest techniques and a source of treatment (in salon and at home) and we will be able to find a course of action for you. We also have the best aftercare products available that can provide a solution for your hair concerns.

As an alternative, we also offer luxury hair extensions in selected salons if that is a route you would like to consider, which can add thickness and length to your existing hair!

FAQ’S

How do I prepare my hair for colouring?

If you’re attending a hair colour appointment in a salon, we would suggest you wash your hair 1-2 days before your appointment. However, it’s not necessary to do so, you can come into the salon with your hair in any condition. We will always shampoo and condition your hair at every appointment.

How soon can I wash my hair after colouring?

You can wash your hair any time after your salon appointment, there is no set time and is completely up to the individual. We shampoo and condition our guests’ hair at every salon appointment.

How often should you wash colored hair?

As often as you need to! It’s completely up to you how often you do this and is a personal choice. There is no one size fits all solution. However, the type of products and aftercare you use is very important and our team will suggest the best products for your hair colour. We highly recommend Pureolgy products for your after-colour haircare solution.

Which is best, bleaching or highlights?

If you don’t want to see any of your natural colour, then bleaching the hair is a much better option than highlights. In comparison, highlights give approximately 30-50% coverage, or could even be less if you opt for a style such as a ‘Face Frame’. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to hair colouring. At Trevor Sorbie, our salon colourists will discuss your options at-length and recommend a colour service that will work best for your hair goals and hair type.

How long does a full head of colour take?

This really depends on the look you are looking for. Are you maintaining your colour? Or wanting a complete colour change? We will create bespoke plan for you depending on what look you desire and therefore the length of time it will take to colour your hair is completely personalised. We provide many options such as a full head of highlights, balayage and global colour as a few examples. Check out our price lists or call our salon team for more options.

What hair colour suits my skin tone?

Different hair colour work best for different skin tones, face shapes, eye colour and even lifestyle! During your complimentary consultation your Trevor Sorbie Colour Technician will discuss this question at length and find your perfect colour and style that is bespoke to you

What is the difference between hair colour and highlights?

Hair colour refers to the overall colour of your hair, while highlights are sections of your hair that have been lightened. In comparison Low Lights are sections of the hair that have been darkened. Highlights can be used to add dimension and depth to a hairstyle, as well as create contrast between different colors for an eye-catching look. Hair coloruring often refers to the covering of the first few greys or first signs of grey or completely disguising grey by colouring all the hair on the head.

How long will a hair colour appointment take?

At Trevor Sorbie, a hair colour appointment will take anywhere from 1.5 hours (from start to finish including finishing services) up to an entire hair plan to get you to the shade you desire. The time depends on many factors including the length of your hair and the complexity of the colouring service. Timings will always be discussed at your complimentary consultation before your appointment.
