Hair Has No Gender

We believe that hair has no gender!

Every single one of our guests is unique and receives a personalised experience from our team, ensuring they get the best possible service within a safe salon space that is open to all. Our aim is for every guest to be treated like as someone unique, to leave with hair that represents themselves, whoever they may be. This is why our services are NOT based on gender!

Our Journey to Non-Gendered Pricing

It all started with an Instagram video from Rain (Model, Actor & Activist), who visited and interviewed local salons in Hampstead for some research on why hair salon pricing is historically gendered. Our salon in the area was the only one offering non gendered pricing. And this made us think… ‘why are some of our other salon locations different?’

For 45 years our flagship salon in Covent Garden has never offered gendered pricing, however somewhere along the way some of our other salons changed direction. In April 2023 we decided to simply align our salons, so every UK location is offering appointments based on services, not gender. We saw it, addressed it, and changed it!

Non-Gendered Pricing
Rain Model Actor

Rain (Model, Actor & Activist) Says:

“Trevor Sorbie’s commitment to have a singular pricing system across the board is not just inspiring, it’s also symbolic. Many salons say that they can’t make the change because they’ve been around too long or gotten too big. However, after Trevor Sorbie’s successful switch up, there no longer is any excuse.

Your haircare should be about you. When you enter a salon, you shouldn’t have to worry about label or limits. You should simply enjoy being who you want to be.”

Creating Safe Spaces in Hair Salons

We have partnered with Global Alliance and Community Dress Code Project to ensure their salons and team are trained to the very best standard to welcome the LGBTQ2S+ community. As the first UK salon to partner and receive training by DCP, Trevor Sorbie are now listed among other international salons who are striving for change in the hair industry.

Kristin Dress Code Project

Kristin (Founder of Dresscode Project), says:

It was incredibly fulfilling working with the Trevor Sorbie community. Our goal in the industry is to help hair salons, create safer, gender affirming, hair spaces for folks, who identify within the LGBTQ2S+ communities to receive haircuts that make them look at the way they feel. The Trevor Sorbie team was inquisitive and authentic in their learning and ally ship. Regardless of how any of them identified they were all very excited to support and start their journey as a gender, affirming hair salon.”

YOU Campaign

In partnership with Rain, we have launched our YOU Campaign. A beautiful representation of how the collaboration has come together.

Giuseppe Stelitano, (Creative Director), says:

“With YOU we encourage everyone to embrace individuality, and let hair be a reflection of their true self. Whether you identify as a man, a woman, or as neither or both, there is no right or wrong way to wear your hair.”
